SUMMARY

The Editorial Manager reports to the Creative Director and will be responsible for conceptualizing and establishing the Charming Charlie brand voice while also delivering engaging creative handles for marketing campaigns that inspire our customer to connect and excite her to buy. The right candidate will have a feminine and fun “wink and a smile” style of writing that authentically positions the Charming Charlie brand as our customers’ “best friend” and trusted style advisor, creating engaging and emotional connections across every touch point. This person will be responsible for integrating the creative brand voice into all marketing programs and collateral pieces to enhance product storytelling. S/he will be the lead copywriter for the brand and company, and will define, direct and execute the overall copy strategy to bring the brand to life consistently, across all touch points, in a way that engages and excites existing and new potential
clients. The right candidate will be highly innovative and creative, and will have the ability to execute with excellence within a fast paced retail environment. As a strategic and conceptual leader, s/he has extensive experience supporting retail and ecommerce business channels, and deep knowledge across all creative disciplines including conceptual and executional.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a primary partner in developing creative concepts and editorial handles for all brand, sales and marketing materials, including but not limited to: 
    creative campaigns, in-store imagery, direct mail campaigns, direct marketing pieces, window signage, interior graphics, seasonal collateral, store packaging, product packaging, sign packages, advertising insertions, website and online marketing assets, and more
  • Inspire and develop creative campaigns for innovative digital and social media initiatives in order to create buzz, further engage our community, grow friends/followers, and build loyalty
  • Collaborate on the development of creative concepts for all customer touch points that continually reinforce the brand and move it forward, partnering with the rest of the creative team on executing ideas across print and web
  • Stay on the forefront of what’s new by constantly researching the latest in web content, social media, fashion and culture, to present new ideas to Creative

  • Partner with creative team in developing and executing miscellaneous brand work including brand book, brand materials, packaging and carding initiatives, and more
  • Conceptualize and establish the Charming Charlie brand voice in a way that sets the brand apart in the marketplace and creates an emotional connection with the customer
  • Must have “a wink & a smile” style of writing that authentically positions the Charming Charlie brand as our customers’ “best friend” and trusted style advisor
  • Ensure consistency in the brand voice across all touch points, from marketing campaigns including TV spots, radio advertising and email subject lines, to product naming conventions and HR recruiting efforts
  • Support the marketing team and Creative Director in developing new, innovative editorial content and creative handles for marketing campaigns that excite the customer to engage, shop and buy
  • Oversee team of two online copywriters to create overall consistency within the brand while also mentoring and leveraging the team to support other brand copy-related needs as time permits
  • Work cross functionally with marketing and merchandising teams to understand monthly product offerings; write engaging copy that will live on product and editorial copy that supports monthly deliveries and floorsets
  • Transform monthly collection ideas into new and inspiring consumer facing stories and related brand content; manage the creative expression of monthly stories by writing editorial copy for windows, homepages, direct mail, collateral, in-store signage, email, social media, ecommerce and all other touch points that creates consistency
  • Partner with the ecommerce and social media teams to develop engaging storytelling across the website and social channels
  • Partner with the marketing and ecommerce teams to develop a compelling email calendar and engaging stories within each email; bring the vision to life through exciting subject lines, fun headlines and informative editorial body copy for email marketing needs
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional partners including the visual merchandising, marketing, public relations, and merchant teams, to ensure marketing is working collaboratively across the brand

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-6 years of editorial and creative copywriting experience with strength in retail and ecommerce, print and digital
  • Strong background working for a large retailer, focused in the fashion or consumer goods industries
  • A highly collaborative team player with a proven track record in effectively directing and managing a team while promoting conceptual thinking and inspiring others
  • Proven success in conceptualizing, developing and implementing new, innovative creative ideas
  • A solid understanding of digital media, ecommerce and marketing; an ability and a desire to adapt to the changing landscape of technology
  • Impeccable copywriting sensibility geared toward female consumer
  • Motivated, proactive, highly organized and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Team player and problem solver in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
